The Imperial yellow jacket(huang magua) was a type of official attire during the Qing Dynasty. Magua was also a part of the Qing dynasty official uniform, designed for convenience when riding a horse. The color and fabric of it are related to the wearer’s rank, among which yellow is the exclusive color of the Emperor. Only the emperor’s close guards or those who had been granted the privilege from the Emperor can wear it. Wearing the Imperial yellow jacket was a great honor in Qing Dynasty.
