This hat was typically black and adorned with a distinctive plume made from peacock feathers, known as "hualing(花翎)". The number of "eyes" on the peacock feathers indicated the rank of the official, with single-eyed, double-eyed, and triple-eyed plumes representing different levels of prestige.
